Thunderstorm

We had an incredibly violent thunderstorm over here in Indiana last night. It started around 1am and caused the power to go out. In fact, as of this writing I am still "powerless" and had to use my office for all the basic benefits of electricity, including, of course, the internet. This power outage showed me very clearly how powerless we had become without electricity. Last night when the lights went out I tried to find the electric torch, but I was unsure which drawer it was in, or where within all the mess of the drawer to find it. So I tried looking for my keys, which have a little LED light on the key-chain. But these were not to be found at their usual spot, so I decided to use one of the candles that were lying around the house. But that required the lighter to be found, which got me on another search. When I finally located the lighter, some sense of normal functioning was restored. But this morning, when the power had not yet come to the house, I was forced to put my contact lenses on with minimal background light. Which was a big feat in its own right. Maybe this power outage is a good reminder to invest into a basic emergency kit that is easily accessible.
