The Engagement

Almost four weeks ago, on February 26th of this year, Sharmin and I got engaged. Both of us have been hoping and working for that day to come, and now that we have finally made that significant step we are filled with a lot of pride and joy. We had decided not to make too big of a deal about it and only a handful of our friends and family members were informed in advance. In order to celebrate our engagement we went to a really nice restaurant in Indianapolis, called "Eagle's Nest." It is a revolving restaurant on top of Hyatt hotel in the downtown Indianapolis, and it is the only restaurant of its kind in Indiana. The night view of Indianapolis was magnificent, and we got to see the entire cityscape every 60 minutes. You can see some pictures from that night here.

When we got engaged we knew that we didn't want to wait for too long to get married. Our Wedding is scheduled for April 3rd of this year, and last few weeks have been incredibly busy with all the preparations. Even though we are planning only a very small wedding ceremony and reception in Greencastle, there seems to be a lot of stuff that needs to be done for everything to go smoothly. Neither of us has grown up in America, so we only have a very indirect idea of what a "proper" wedding was supposed to be. We also don't have a luxury of family members helping us out, not that they themselves would know anything about American weddings to begin with. However, we are not complaining. So far the preparation is proceeding smoothly, and the proximity of the wedding date has forced us to be very focused and organized. It also helps that we are extremely excited about fully starting our lives together. The Wedding will give us many great memories to be sure, but it's really the marriage that we are looking forward to.
